The Brickyard on Martha’s Vineyard

In the spring of 2020, The Trustees of Reservations opened a new trail on the Island.

The Brickyard on Martha’s Vineyard The addition of this 20 acres to the the Menemsha Hills trail is very significant because the Brickyard has not been open to the public in the past. The land is home to a 45 foot brick chimney, which is the striking remnant left over from the late 1800’s, when bricks were manufactured on the Island. To read more about the history of this site, the Vineyard Magazine published an excellent article in their August, 2020 edition. To access the trail, go to the parking lot for Menemsha Hills and follow the signs. It’s a pretty hilly trail and is over 3 miles there and back. So, wear your sneakers and take some water!
